All-American Blood Drive

UPDATED 7-2-08 at 2:10pm:

117 units were collected on July 1st. While this was short of our goal of 160, there is now a 3-day supply of blood overall, so thank you. There is still an URGENT NEED for TYPE-O NEGATIVE which is currently at less than a 16-hour supply. A special need also exists for A-, B- and O+ which are all at a 2-day supply or less.

Prison Break Alert System

Soon you could be getting information about jail breaks on your cell phone. Its part of a new program announced Wednesday called the "Alert Notification System". The new program is a lot like the Amber Alert system. An automated phone call is sent out to you instantly to let you know if there's an emergency in a prison near you. Anyone in Indiana can sign up, registering both land line and cell phone numbers for the alerts. [i]In Fort Wayne, the new system will apply to the Northeast Juvenile Correctional Facility[/i].
