The Youth Group Challenge

This August, we will once again have the "Help a Neighbor Drive" with the Franciscan Center. It's not too early to start gathering together your group to help collect items for needy families...like food, personal items, healthcare items, clothing and more. The Top 3 groups will each win a special prize with the top prize being a DJ and pizza party with Ace & I. (Participation will also qualify for any needed school service hours!) Here's what to do:

John O and the Kinf

My family and I went out to dinner for Cinco De Mayo so we went to a Mexican restaurant.   Much to my surprise the entertainment at the restaurant was not a mariachi band but an Elvis impersonator. Nothing says “Cinco DeMayo” like an Elvis impersonator… this guy was good… he even had his own fan club, and they were there in force. My birthday was the next day, so naturally I had to celebrate my birthday with him. Thank you, thank you very much.

This is for the mothers
who have sat up all night
with sick toddlers in their arms,
wiping up barf with
Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid
saying, "It's okay honey, Mommy's here."

This is for the mothers
who gave birth to babies
they'll never see. 

And the mothers
who took those babies
and gave them homes.

We welcome those who want to test their endurance in a certified half marathon course that provides a scenic view of historic Fort Wayne, and those who want to run or walk a 4 mile course that shows off the city's parks and downtown area. Many local restaurateurs will be showcasing their healthy cuisine, and fitness organizations will provide information and display products that support a fit lifestyle.
